Avro Lancaster B MK 1 Special
Avro Lancaster B MK 1 Special
The Lancaster was developed as an improved version of the Avro Manchester. Initially named Avro Type 683 Manchester III, it was later renamed Lancaster. Its first test flight took place on January 9, 1941. The aircraft proved to be a clear improvement over its predecessor, especially since the Lancaster was given four engines, compared to two for the Avro Manchester.
