B-17 Flying Fortress 'Ye Old Pub'

B-17 Flying Fortress 'Ye Old Pub'

The legendary B-17 "Ye Olde Pub" (27th Bombardment Squadron, 379th Bomber Group, 8th Air Force) took off on a mission to bomb the Focke-Wulf 190 manufacturing plants in Bremen in 1943 and got heavily damage during the mission.

Aware that they had no idea where they were going, Franz waved at Charlie (the pilot) to turn 180 degrees. Franz escorted and guided the stricken plane to, and slightly over, the North Sea towards England. He then saluted Charlie Brown and turned away, back to Europe.

When Franz landed he told the CO that the plane had been shot down over the sea, and never told the truth to anybody. Charlie Brown and the remains of his crew told all at their briefing, but were ordered never to talk about it.

This very detailed 1/1 scale model (1:144) features the Ye Old Pub logo on the left nose.
